Rummaging through some stored boxes which came from the previous residence, I chanced upon this rather uncommon find, which at first glance looked nothing more than a pendant made of silver.
Upon closer scrutiny, we find that it is the remains of what used to be a Liberty Walking Half-Dollar (minted circa 1916-1947).

Old coins are cool. I have a haphazard collection of them. I think my oldest is a Byzantium coin that I picked up in a Bazaar in Turkey back in the 60s. It has the image of one of the Byzantine emperors back before that part of the world got screwed up by Islam.

Maybe if you also look at them, you may find one just like yours. Please let me know when you see one.
When we went to Germany many years ago, we were close to the area dividing East and West. And a bunch of immigrants were gathered together selling coins of East Germany. Now those coins have been demonetized. I regretted not buying some. The reason? Those immigrants looked menacing and we were forewarned about scams.
I see what you're saying, but my coin was authenticated by a coin expert. He told me it wasn't worth much, since there are so many out there like it. Regardless, I just enjoy having it.
